Periods

Hi everyone myself Akanksha Tripathi and this is my first blog in which in which i am going to express my feelings on a very sensitive topic PERIODS

Firstly I would like to tell you all what periods so according to me

Periods as said is a phase in the month of a lady during which she bleeds from her vagina. It is the other name for what we know as Menstruation. During each month of the life of a female she bleeds for 3-7 days after she reaches her puberty. This bleeding is nothing but the shedding of the layer of extra tissue (endometrium) formed inside the uterus to help in sustaining pregnancy (which if occurs). These shedding of endometrium occurs due to a complex change in the levels of the sex hormones namely estrogen and progesterone; which are further influenced by hormones secreted from the hypothalamus and pituitary (part of brain).Normally the period is a part of the cycle of menstruation which is approximately 28days. Of which bleeding is around 5 days.

Now I would like to tell you all some myths which our very great society has applied on us

1. Don’t touch peoples of house. Includes , my grandmother, uncle, aunty , mom & dad.
2. Whereas many girls in India are forbidden to enter kitchen & temples , my family is totally weird about it. What they is , we’re not allowed to enter the main god room (our house is very religious , every room has gods/goddesses photos.) Now , we’re allowed to go through halls which have god’s pics , and also allowed to enter kitchen. (Very weird , right?)
3. We’re not allowed to touch utensils , clothes , plants etc… for food we’re are provided dishes and all others but have to wash it , so it’ll become good again.
4. Clothes are also given , same as utensils , wash it.
5. In our room, we touch one bed and have to use that bed for 3 days. Wash the bedsheet all set to go good.

Now at last I would like to ask you all that talking about PERIODS in public should be a shameful thing if I represent my opinion then it should not be a shameful thing because as I think

It’s the phenomena related very closely to the cause of our existence.

No ovum → no menstruation or pregnancy → no human existence !

Why should we be ashamed of it ?
